Android 9 Tips and Tricks
The release of the latest Android last summer brought lots of new features with it. Here are a few nifty Android 9 tips that you can utilise if you haven’t already…
1. Advanced Bluetooth capabilities
With Android 9, you can connect up to 5 Bluetooth devices at once and switch between them as you use your handset. Your phone can remember the volume you set each Bluetooth device to, so it doesn’t become a chore when switching between them. Plus, incoming calls will be sent to all connected devices, meaning you won’t miss one.
2. Notification management
Android 9 now allows for better notification management. You can easily choose which apps you want to receive notifications from so you only see what’s important to you. And if you continue to swipe away certain notifications, you’ll get a smart-prompt to remove them.
3. Do not disturb
Do Not Disturb has had a bit of an upgrade too. You can ‘silence’ visual notifications as well as sounds, to ensure that you are truly undisturbed when you choose.
4. Always on display
Having your phone on display at all times means that you can stay up to date by simply glancing at your phone. This is especially good for when you’re in a meeting, as you can see useful information such as the time and upcoming calendar events.
5. App improvements
Thanks to a redesign of Android’s system navigation, you can now use gestures to move around your phone. This makes navigating between your apps a much smoother process.
Android 9 also sees the introduction of App Actions, where predicted actions pop-up on your phone to save you time.
6. Digital well-being
Android 9 now allows you to set up your phone for bedtime with Wind Down. Schedule your phone to alter your screen to grey-scale and enable Do Not Disturb, silencing notifications and making your phone less of a distraction at night. You can also set limits for apps during the day to reduce your screen time and spend less time being distracted.
