When Windows 7 was released in 2009, Microsoft committed to providing 10 years of product support.

Windows 7 will go end-of-life on 14th January 2020. This means that technical assistance and software updates will no longer be available. You will still be able to use your computer without updating the software. However, you will be at a higher risk of security breaches and threats.
