Microsoft Office 2019 Release
September last year saw the launch of Microsoft Office 2019. If you’re not already a cloud convert, this package could be ideal for you. Microsoft seem to have released this with the intention of helping customers who are not quite ready for that transition. They have said that although this version of Office is a one time release that will never be updated, they are committed to releasing another on-premise version of Office in the future.
About
Microsoft have created Office 2019 for Windows 10 and macOS users. Note that you won’t be able to run it on Windows 7, which is still very popular. Microsoft have finally deemed it appropriate to share features that have made an appearance on Office 365 over the last three years. People other than 365 subscribers now have the opportunity to access these advancements. The updates are by no means revolutionary, but they do help those who aren’t on the cloud to stay connected.
Features
The introduction of Office 2019 will see a range of features brought to you. Word has new inking features, which make working with a stylus more functional. There’s also focus mode, available both on Word and Outlook. This helps the user block out distractions, and put their piece of work at the forefront of their attention. PowerPoint sees the introduction of tools such as morph and zoom, allowing users to make impressive cinematic presentations. Over on Excel, the addition of timelines, 2D maps, new formulas and chart enhancements allow users to get even more out of the programme.
Overall, Office 2019 looks like a pretty nifty piece of kit to have. However, ultimately it seems that it’s only there to cushion the blow of the inevitable move to cloud that Microsoft will pursue. Their current competition remains cloud based and it seems that this will continue to be their priority.
