5 (More) iOS 12 Tips
iOS 12 has been around for a while now, but there’s still some functionality that we’ve recently discovered. Here are some more of our favourite iOS 12 tips to help you…
1. Edit your text easily
3D touch allows you to easily move your cursor while you’re typing. Simply press firmly on any area of the keyboard and slide to move the cursor through your text with ease.
2. Personalise your Today View widgets
From your home screen, you can swipe right to Today View. Here, you’ll see a summary of information from within your apps. To add widgets to this, use 3D touch to select any app on your home screen and choose the Add Widget option at the top right. You can then remove and edit your widgets at the bottom of Today View using Edit.
3. Track your battery health
The Battery section in your Settings allows you to see stats on your battery’s health, including when you charged it, the amount of screen time you’ve had and the Maximum Capacity. A lower Maximum Capacity means that you’ll have less use between each charge. This information can help you see when a battery replacement might help your device.
4. Control your Do Not Disturb setting
Using 3D touch on the Do Not Disturb button in your Control Centre will enable you to set and schedule your Do Not Disturb to turn itself off after 1 hour or when you move from your current location. Perfect for those who accidentally leave it on for most of the day!
5. Let Siri help you
You can now trigger actions using Siri by setting up shortcut phrases, in the Shortcuts app. This allows you to customise how Siri works for you. You can find some suggestions in the gallery section. For example, get directions to your next calendar event, set a reminder for when you arrive at work or keep a record of your caffeine intake. (Note: now you can also use Siri to search within your photos by keyword or location!)
You can use these iOS 12 tips to utilise features, such as Siri and 3D touch, and make the most of your device. Until iOS 13 arrives…
