• What’s New in iOS 13?

Apple’s latest iPhone software release is now here. Here are our top 10 favourite iOS 13 features that are available to iPhone users…

      Sign in with Apple

This feature will allow users to login to apps and websites using their Apple ID. After confirmation, using your Touch or Face ID, you’ll be good to go.

      Dark Mode

Apple are finally introducing dark mode to iOS. The feature has been available on MacOS for some time but is only now making its way onto the iPhone. You can easily toggle dark mode on/off from the control centre. Not only is it good for using at night, but it can help extend your battery life too.

      Photos Tab

An update to the Photos app means that users are able to see a condensed version of their photos which only includes items they’ll want to see. This nifty view will remove duplicate photos, and uninteresting images, such as receipts, to allow you to browse through memories that matter.

      Reminders App

iOS 13 introduces a new version of the Reminders app. The smart lists organise your reminders into Today, Scheduled & Flagged. Siri will also make suggestions for further reminders that you may want to create while you’re using other apps, such as Messages.

      Map Collections

Collections on maps allow you to create lists and share with friends, from your favourite local brunch places to the must-sees on your next holiday.

      Quick-path Typing

This feature is already available on many Android devices, however Apple are now catching up. Quick-path typing will allow you to type words without lifting your finger. Machine learning will begin to recognise the paths you draw and convert it into the word for you.

      Smarter Sharing

This update allows you to share photos or documents with just a single tap, as iOS 13 will suggest who you might want to share an item with, and which app you might want to use.

      CarPlay

Updates to CarPlay allow Siri to make smart suggestions to you. Utilise Home features with reminders about closing your garage door, or simply check your next calendar event.

      Share Sound

iOS 13 allows you to connect two pairs of Airpods to one device so that you can share music or videos with friends. The modern day equivalent of using an old-school headphone splitter.

      3D Maps

This feature has been included last as it looks very cool. However, that being said, it will only be available in selected US cities later in the year. This immersive feature allows you to explore the streets in more detail than ever before.

iOS 13 will be compatible with iPhone SE & iPhone 6s or later (and with iPod touch 7th generation). If you haven’t already updated your phone, head to Settings > General > Software Update to see if it’s available for your device.

You can of course find a complete and detailed list of all the iOS 13 updates on the Apple website.
