    • Introduction to Dual Sim & eSim

With the rise of home and remote working, many people have had to adapt their homes to the requirements of their jobs. One of the lesser known ways to take calls on the job is through dual sim or eSim.

      What’s the difference?

Dual sim is the use of two physical sim cards, whilst eSim is an additional number which is used via the software on your phone.

What are the benefits of Dual Sim & eSim?

Dual/eSim enables you to use your work number for calls, texts and data during the working day, then switch to your personal number outside of work. Thus helping you separate your home and work environments, even if you can’t do it physically.

There is also no need to have two mobile phones, or an additional desk phone. Helping you reduce the clutter in your home, and make working simpler.

Which phones can support Dual Sim & eSim?

Most Android models support dual sim; either with one sim slot and one hybrid SD/sim slot, or just two sim slots. For example, the Samsung S21 has dual sim capabilities. The only exception is the Google Pixel range, which utilises an eSim.

The iPhone XR, XS and X and later model iPhones support an additional eSim only.

Please also be cautious, as all the branded handset models at the moment are likely to be locked to the specific network that they are bought from (e.g. an EE handset will only support EE sim cards). Should you wish to opt for an additional sim on a locked device, you’ll have to ensure it’s on the same network that your device is locked to.

The rules for this are changing later this year. In the meantime however, Roda can supply you with unlocked devices, in addition to our support should you need any assistance. We can also offer next day swap outs and extended warranty in some cases, depending on the model of phone.

      What networks support Dual/eSim?

Any network will support the dual sim feature, as this simply requires two physical sim cards. Currently, Roda offers bespoke tariffs on EE, Vodafone and O2. Roda can also offer eSims on EE and O2. These can be used, so far, with iPhones and Google Pixel devices with a business tariff.

If you have any queries regarding this, or if you would like a quote, please feel free to contact us to learn more about our range of bespoke solutions for your business.
